Elite Santoku Knife
The Elite Santoku, is a versatile Japanese chef's knife with a thin taper for maximum precision when slicing vegetables, fish and meat. The hollow oval shape on either side of the blade reduces adhesion during the process of cutting and separating. The blade and handle are compatible in width and weight, resulting in a well-balanced knife.
- 1.4116 Stainless carbon alloy blade resists stains and corrosion, exhibits toughness and durability, holds its edge retention, and is easy to re-sharpen to a razor-like edge.
- This knife line is one-piece, hot-drop hammer forged, which produces the strongest blade from heel to tip. The blades are heat treated and cooled to achieve a Rockwell of 57-58.
- The three-step, 15° Elite edge is hand stropped on a cloth wheel, creating the sharpest possible cutting surface on an edged tool.
- The bolsterless heel simplifies all cutting, sharpening and honing tasks, making use of the entire blade from heel to tip.

Product information
At ColsenKeane, we select the best US-sourced Full Grain Chrome Tanned or Veg Tanned Cowhides, and Full Grain Aniline Buffalo hides for our products. We only use Full-Grain leather, which is the highest quality leather you can get; far superior to the “genuine leather” commonly used by larger brands. Our goods are built from 5/6 oz or 8/9 oz leathers, depending upon the requirements of the product. We use the most durable hardware in the industry, made with a custom mold from solid brass with a brushed nickel finish. We also offer handmade copper buckles as an upgrade on many bag and belt items.
Our handmade copper buckles are painstakingly hand-forged from pure copper by a metal smith in Montana. Copper buckles are an allergen-free option for your products and will incur a slight upcharge.
The Care & Keeping of Your ColsenKeane Leather Good:
So you bought a new Satchel and you're wondering how to take care of it?
You don't need to do anything at all for at least 4-6 months. Your leather good comes packed with the oils it needs to perform.
At the 4-6 month mark, we recommend a gently applied coat of Saddle Soap (available for purchase here). We suggest you do this with our Liquid Saddle Soap.
Please note that an application of Saddle Soap will darken the leather, just like age and patina does.
1. To apply Saddle Soap, take a clean soft cloth and gently apply the solution in a circular motion into your leather good. You may wish to begin at the bottom of the bag, in order to see how the Saddle Soap will affect the hide.
2. Let it dry 2-3 hours, or overnight if you want to be certain and it's ready to go.
3. Reapply again every 3-4 months.
We can only recommend Saddle Soap on our products. Though you may surely be able to use them on other leather goods purchased elsewhere, or on larger items like chairs or sofas, we can not guarantee the results and therefore would not be able to recommend it.
Should your Satchel have some years and wear-and-tear on it, you may need a small overhaul. In that case, let us refresh your Satchel for you.
We offer a Refresh Your Satchel package during which we will give your well-loved ColsenKeane Satchel a thorough once-over and cleaning. We will use our liquid glycerine saddle soap to thoroughly clean and condition your bag; carefully inspecting each rivet and each stitch and repairing anything found, to ensure the continued integrity of your go-to companion.

Got questions? We've got answers!
How can I learn more about the leather you use?
Please see this page to learn everything about our leather and how to care for it.
What does your monogramming entail?
We offer optional monogramming on our leather products. Please note that we use only one font: all minimalist capital letters that measure 1/4" tall (see photos below for reference). As such, we recommend you use a [first initial/middle initial/last initial] format.
Please note that our monograms, just like the crafting of all of our leather products, are done by hand. As such, please allow room for slight imperfections as that is, indeed, part of the hand-crafted experience.
In the interest of accuracy, we do not advise using more than 3-4 letters, at most. The cost of monogramming is $20 for up to 3 letters. Any letters over 3 are an additional $5 per letter.
We're sorry, but we do not monogram any non-ColsenKeane products.
When can I expect my order to ship?
We appreciate that you value traditional hand craftsmanship, durable thick-cut construction, and the quality you can't find in a big-box store or massive e-commerce corporations. Your leather goods from ColsenKeane will be unlike any others you've purchased; each is given to a leathersmith to cut, punch, and stitch by hand after your order is placed.
Please understand that as such, we ask for a minimum of 14 business days to produce your order to our standards. If there is a particular deadline you need your order to be crafted by, please let us know right away by emailing us at info@colsenkeane.com and we will provide options for a payable rush fee in order to prioritize your order.
What are your exchange and return policies?
Please see this page for all of our return and exchange policy details.
We have a 15-day return policy, which means you have 15 days after receiving your eligible item to request a return or exchange. Packages shipped back to us for exchange or return must be received at our studio or postmarked within a 30-day window of customer's original receipt. Absolutely no exceptions.
The original shipping fee is non-refundable for returns or exchanges, except in case of a shipping error or manufacturing defect.
To be eligible for a return or exchange, your item must not be considered a non-returnable item (read more below), must be be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused and in its original packaging. To request a return, please contact us via email at info@colsenkeane.com for return authorization. Include your order number, date received and reason for return. If your return is accepted, we will provide instructions on how to return your order within 1 business days. Please note that any request sent on Sundays will not be replied to until the next day. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return authorization may not be accepted.
Orders placed between November 1st - December 25th that fit our criteria for being returnable, are eligible by January 15th of the following year. CK products received as gifts can be returned for store credit only.
Is there a warranty on my leather product?
Yes!
We take pride that our hand-crafted leather products are crafted with such care and quality that we will stand behind the quality and workmanship of our goods for their lifetime. We provide a guarantee to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship of our leather goods, with normal use. If your product fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship, we will repair or replace it for free, in most circumstances.
Our warranty does not cover any damage caused by neglect, improper use or abuse, accidental damage, or anything outside of normal wear and tear.

* Customer is responsible for return shipment to our studios for repair.
HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY LEATHER GOODS?
Please see this page to learn about how to care for your leather.
I don't see exactly what I want. Do you take custom orders?
Please see this page for everything you ever wanted to know about custom projects with ColsenKeane.
Do you repair leather items from other makers or vintage leather goods?
No, we don't offer leather repair. Our business is about designing and handcrafting heirloom-quality leather goods. We only repair our own products. We also (sadly) don't have a resource for who you can reach out to for repairs. It likely depends upon the item. For instance, leather shoes or bags? A "shoe cobbler" may be able to help (google "shoe cobblers near me" to find one and ask). Leather jacket or pants? A "tailor" that works with leather clothing could potentially help. A rip in your leather chair? Maybe a furniture repair person? And so on.
